So before you pack up and head north, here are five honest reasons why North Scottsdale might not be your forever home.

Let’s address the elephant in the room: summer in North Scottsdale is no joke. We’re talking triple-digit, fry-an-egg-on-the-sidewalk, scorch-your-leather-seats kind of heat. If you love seasons or can’t handle living in a literal sauna from May through October, this could be a deal breaker.

While it cools slightly the farther north you go—like in Cave Creek or Desert Mountain—most locals have a "summer escape plan": vacations, second homes, RV getaways, you name it. Winters? Perfection. But summer? Survival mode.

2. It’s Constantly Under Construction

Moved here for peace and quiet? Surprise! North Scottsdale is growing fast. With new developments, expanding roads, and infrastructure projects like the Loop 101 expansion, construction is a constant. Yes, those extra freeway lanes will be amazing—eventually. Looking for a middle ground? Try McCormick Ranch, where you’ll find sidewalks, green grass, and a bit more walkability while still enjoying North Scottsdale’s peaceful vibe.
